Carbon Budgeting
verb: the task of setting a predetermined limit of the total, or upper limit, amount of carbon emissions for an entity and establishing pro forma or formal mechanisms to track and maintain carbon negative and positive (fossil fuel) impacts over time; a carbon emissions budget may include 'compensating actions' such as carbon offsets.
