Carbon
Capture Farming
verb:
the process of capturing, or 'trapping,' carbon dioxide into the soil by
planting certain species of wetlands-type plants. The plants absorb
carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and as they die and decompose the
carbon is incorporated into soil biomass (creating new peat
soil). Farmers in deltas and wetlands areas who practice carbon
capture farming instead of planting row crops are often eligible for tradeable
carbon credits.
