verb: the practice of placing a 'water footprint' label on products or services; the term can also refer to the process of determining, through a series of calculations, the water footprint of a product or service and communicating this figure to prospective purchasers.

'Labeling' is the American English spelling, which uses just one 'L'. British/Canadian spelling holds to the 'doubling' consonant rule. Both spellings are acceptable.
